With the development of mechanical grasping technology and the continuous expansion of mechanical grasping application scenarios, 2D vision technology can no longer meet the application requirements of space grasping. In contrast, 3D visual capture technology can better adapt to new application scenarios by collecting point cloud information of pose, depth of field and object surface.
PART-01.3D Positioning and Grasping System
The 3D positioning and grasping system refers to that the 3D camera obtains the point cloud data of the scene, calculates the position and posture of the object based on the 3D recognition algorithm, and sends the calculation results to the robot to guide the robot arm and robot to achieve adaptive grasping.
PART-02. System operation section
The 3D positioning and grabbing system can be operated in four steps: communication unit, image processing, setting reference position and detection:
01. Communication unit
Mainly responsible for receiving signals and feedback the results and data of system detection.
02. Image processing
The collected point clouds are processed by 3D matching tools.
03. Setting the reference position
Collect the point cloud information of the benchmark product, process the point cloud, convert the spatial information of the current product, and record the 3D point cloud contour of the current product and the actual X, Y, Z coordinates.
04. Detection
Collect the real product point cloud, calculate the current product space information through the 3D matching tool, calculate the deviation between the current data and the datum position data, and finally send the deviation value to the manipulator to guide the manipulator to grasp.
PART-04. System Advantages
In many automation applications, industrial robots are often used for grasping operations because of their superior functions:
1. The operation is simple, without any coding, and the operator can quickly start;
2. Positioning of workpieces of various shapes and sizes;
3. Adapt to various color environments;
4. Suitable for various materials (metal, plastic, wood, food, etc.);

6. It does not need auxiliary lighting and can be used for outdoor lighting;
7. It can deal with the stacking and shielding of materials;
8. It can deal with the mixing and stacking of various materials;

PART-05. Product Application
With the popularization of industrial robots, robot automation has been more widely used and concerned. 3D positioning grab system is also widely used in:
1. Take care of the machine and grab it from the box;
2. Grab parts from multiple places for assembly;
3. Grab from platform, shelf and pallet according to rules;
4. Stacking application;
5. Conveyor belt operation;
6. Robot coordinated handling;
